Fuel prices continue to slip; gas under $2 per gallon in Tampa Bay

TAMPA - If you are looking for a cheap fill-up, you might want to head to I-275 and Bearss Avenue in Tampa. Every station at that intersection is selling unleaded regular gas for $1.959 per gallon.

That drop is evidence of the new, cheaper prices that have been falling all over the state.

AAA estimates that the average price of fuel has fallen $1.11 since this time last year, saving families significantly.

“The entire landscape for gas prices has changed in a year,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for the AAA auto club. “People went from squirming at the thought of potentially paying $4 for gasoline, to wondering how soon is too soon to fill their gas tanks so they can get the lowest possible price at the pump? The answer remains, ‘tomorrow is the best day to buy gas,’ because prices are getting cheaper every day.”
